So many of us stress about living THE life God has for us. Without realizing, we believe that he predestined our every single step and if we don’t walk in those exact steps we are doomed; we believe that’s why we suffer.
I believe in the freedom God gave humanity; the freedom of choice; many know it as free will. If we believe in free will, believing that God has predestined our life or that he has only one way we have to go in our life doesn’t make sense. We must believe one or the other.
I’m not sure where this concept of “I want to know the way (singular) the Lord has for me” or “God has a path and if I don’t follow it, I’m screwed” came from, but I can tell you that the lack of peace, joy, and love it brings is an indication that it’s not God’s heart. There is not one Scripture that I have found where God speaks of a singular plan He has for us. If I’m wrong, feel free to share with me.
An example is a popular verse many use, Jeremiah 20:11. Let’s explore…

God has purposes for your life. He has plans (plural) for your life. Within those purposes and plans, you have choices to make; even within that, you can choose to not surrender to Him and live your life the way you want. It’s not ideal, but it’s a choice you have.
I pray that we use our freedom of choice wisely. That our choices are made in love l, and ideally, within His purpose.
Living a life surrendered to God does not remove our personal responsibility. Choosing to follow His lead and His will is a free choice that we all have the opportunity to make.
Please know that if you’ve failed to surrender at any point making a wrong choice, you have not ruined God’s purposes and plans for your life. His purposes are greater than any screw-up.
All you have to do is turn to Him. It doesn’t matter where you are right now, simply surrender to Him and you’ll discover that you have suddenly made the turn that placed you back into His plans for you.
The wrong turn you took or the life you’ve lived is never too far from the way back home. His plans and purposes for you are always a turn away. When you need directions, simply turn to God. It’ll place you where you need to be.
Now, that’s good news!
