Greatest Commandment

“Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up. It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful. It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-7‬ ‭NET‬‬

God loves everyone, however, not everyone receives His love. God’s love changes everything. It is His love that will lead us to love as He loves.

The GREATEST commandment is to love as Jesus loves – John 13:34-35. This is not possible without the love of God transforming us. God is love.

Many think being a disciple of Jesus is based on following a set of rules. If we go to church and don’t cuss, steal, kill, etc, then we are good Christians who are saved. But the Scriptures tell us that being a disciple of Jesus isn’t through the “appearance” of good or attending church – it’s witnessed through the heart – by our love for one another.

Jesus is the ultimate teacher of what that looks like. But we won’t understand the life of Jesus until we know who God is. And it is in the knowing of God that we find an overwhelming love that transforms our entire being into the image of Christ.

God created us to have relationship with Him – every day – not just on Sundays. It’s in that relationship that we will come to experience who He is and allow ourselves to be loved by God so that His love can continually pour from our lives.
