Using Scripture as a weapon against others is not cool.
Some would say that “The Word is a weapon.”
My response:
“Yes, that’s correct. It’s a weapon against principalities, powers and rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness. Not against people in an attempt to scare them into submission, manipulate them into a decision, or fear them into Heaven.”
In many ways, there are many experiencing the same mental and spiritual blocks as the Pharisees during the time of Jesus. They are looking at words and are using them to kill, instead of seeing Jesus and recognizing His demonstration of life and love.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Scriptures are not a good luck charm. Speaking out positive Bible verses that we really don’t believe won’t impact any change, but actually causes stress on the body. The name of Jesus is also not a good luck charm. Without faith, saying words, even Scripture, has very little benefit. Throwing around a Scripture or the name of Jesus hoping it “sticks and works” without belief is a soul-killer.
So, what can you do with this information.
1️⃣Don’t weaponize Scripture to scare, bully, or manipulate someone into anything.
2️⃣The Scripture reveals God. It’s like an autobiography. In the Scriptures you find God, not lessons that someone else needs to know. Allow the Scriptures to transform your life – it makes a difference when you preach from a place of transformation.
3️⃣Before using the Name of Jesus to get something you need or want, ask God for direction. Maybe that thing you’re praying about isn’t the best God has.
4️⃣Take a moment to acknowledge your beliefs. It’s okay to realize you don’t believe something and take that unbelief to God, than to fake believe something and remain in ignorance. God loved your honesty and vulnerability.

The words alone don’t offer that wisdom. It is Holy Spirit that has the power to infuse the words in scripture with Life. It’s that Life that births and empowers us with wisdom.
The Life is Jesus. Jesus is THE WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE.
Allow Holy Spirit to guide you through the scriptures. He turns words into life. It’s truly, truly an amazing experience.
