Day 10 Devo – Reflection

When I read the verses of the day which starts with,

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience…

Colossians 3:12

my mind instantly thought of the Fruit of the Spirit. Sure sounds a lot like that list.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22

I know. It’s not the same exact list, but there are lots of similarities.

Colossians 3 starts with Paul speaking to them about how they are a new creation and have a new life. The things we used to do that were aligned with the ways of world are a thing of the past. Now we live by the Spirit, which will produce the fruit of the Spirit.

Paul then reminds them that they were called by God because of His love for them and in their new life they should wear, like a cloak, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

but as always, Paul brings up a more excellent way; the way of love.

above all, clothes yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:14

Walking in the newness of life that He gave us, which was given out of love, should look like Him. Everything we do should be done out of love. Our lives should reflect one that is compassionate, kind, gentle, humble, and above all love. To reflect love is to reflect God.

Is there an area in your life that you could reflect Him better?
